About us
As a specialist in high-precision industrial parts cleaning, SAFECHEM helps manufacturers build robust, safe, and sustainable cleaning processes.
We provide a broad portfolio of cleaning solutions, including modified alcohol solvents and specialty aqueous formulations, all designed to meet the most demanding precision cleaning requirements.
To help customers optimize their cleaning processes, SAFECHEM offers a comprehensive service portfolio covering test kits and stabilizers, tailored chemical leasing packages, waste take-back services, laboratory analysis, and employee risk awareness training. As a strong advocate of closed-machine technology, we support our customers in shifting from linear solvent use to closed-loop, circular systems – enabling more sustainable industrial practices.
Through rigorous testing, objective evaluation, and informed consultation, we advise companies on selecting the right cleaning agent, particularly for high-precision applications in industries such as aviation, defense, automotive, medical technology, and electronics.
Our goal is to transform parts cleaning into a competitive advantage, where risks are effectively managed, employee health and safety are protected, and sustainability and regulatory compliance are clearly demonstrated.
With offices in Germany, China, and the United States, SAFECHEM serves more than 5,000 customers worldwide in close cooperation with a network of responsible distributors.

MODIFIED ALCOHOLS – PROVIDING YOU A SUSTAINABLE SOLUTION
Our virgin, high-performance modified alcohols of the DOWCLENE™* 16 Series along with DUALENE™ 1601 S have diversified chemical and physical properties that can satisfy your individual requirements.
All grades have a low toxicity and are chemically highly stable to ensure a secured process.
As non-halogenated solvents, they are not under further evaluation for neither REACH in Europe nor TSCA (The Toxic Substances Control Act) in the US.
With both non-polar and polar properties, they can effectively remove oils and greases but also certain polar contaminations like cooling emulsions or solids (e.g. salt, particles, abrasives).
Supported by the MAXISTAB™ S-Series Stabilizers, our modified alcohols can ensure a much more stable, predictable and safer process even when cleaning highly chlorinated oils.
STANDARDS (DOWCLENE™* 1601)
ASTM F 483 - Standard Practice for Total Immersion Corrosion Test
ASTM F 519 - Standard Test Method for Mechanical Hydrogen Embrittlement Evaluation
ASTM F 945 - Standard Test Method for Stress-Corrosion of Titanium
ASTM F 1110 - Standard Test Method for Sandwich Corrosion Test (compatible with sensitive alloys such as AL 2024 and AL 7075)
ASTM F 1111 - Standard Test Method for Corrosion of Low Embrittling Cadmium Plate
ASTM F 2111 - Standard Practice for Measuring Intergranular Attack or End Grain Pitting on Metals
DOWCLENE™* 1601 does not contain any declarable substances featured within the Aerospace Defence-Declarable Substance List compiled by the International Aerospace Environmental Group (IAEG)
MAXISTAB™ S-Series Stabilizers
MAXISTAB™ S-Series Stabilizers further expand the possibilities of modified alcohols by maximizing process reliability.
The Series has been specially developed to counteract the effects of organic acids, sulphur compounds, hydrochloric acid and chlorides – and to prevent their build-up in cleaning systems. The stabilizers can enable a stable process even when cleaning highly chlorinated oils.
CHEMAWARE™ Laboratory Analyses
From routine analyses to complex troubleshooting, our Lab Services help ensure process reliability and optimized cleaning performance.
CHEMAWARE™ Solvent Analysis measures the solvent quality.
CHEMAWARE™ Oil Compatibility Test determines the compatibility of different oils applied in the production process with the solvent and its stabilization.
CHEMAWARE™ Special Analyses are made on demand and provide you with the information needed for your own optimal cleaning process.
CHEMAWARE™ Solvent Trainings
We offer you and your employees comprehensive solvent training courses to enable a safe, efficient and optimized solvent cleaning process.
